Script2ReelBot: the Script2Reel link reader
Last updated: 5 October 2026
Script2ReelBot is the fetcher behind the “Add a link” feature of Script2Reel. When a signed-in user pastes the link to an article or blog post into the video composer, Script2ReelBot downloads that one page, extracts the main text (headings, paragraphs and tables — no menus, ads or comments) and uses it as the source for that user’s video outline. The video credits link back to the original article.
What it does — and what it doesn’t
- It fetches only a URL that a person pasted. It never follows links, crawls a site or indexes pages.
- One page per request, plus your
/robots.txtand a small favicon for the preview card. - It does not run JavaScript, log in, send cookies or solve captchas. Pages behind a paywall, a login or a bot check are skipped and the user is asked to paste the text they are allowed to use.
- Limits: at most 5 redirects, 25 seconds per page and 2 MB (10 MB on paid plans) per page. A page read in the last 60 minutes is served from our cache instead of being fetched again.
- Requests come from Google Cloud (us-central1). There is no fixed IP list — please identify us by User-Agent.
User-Agent
Every request sends exactly this header:
Mozilla/5.0 (compatible; Script2ReelBot/1.0; +https://script2reel.app/bot)robots.txt
Script2ReelBot reads /robots.txt before fetching a page and obeys rules for the Script2ReelBot token, or for * when there is no group for it. If a page is disallowed, it is not fetched.
How to block it
To block Script2ReelBot on your whole site, add this to your robots.txt:
